How To Give NASEEHA (sincere advice) with Wisdom - Shaykh Muhammad ibn abul-Wahab al Aqee...

“No You Too!”

“No You Too!”
If someone wishes you a merry Christmas or the like,
In response dare not say, “You too.”
For this would imply an acceptance of their disbelieving ceremonies,
Even if this is not you,
So explain to them -if you can- that you don’t celebrate such,
Only if this is what you have the time and the ability to do,
If not then draw silent and don’t reciprocate,
Whatever you do, dare not say, “You too!”
(A short poem by Abu ‘Abdis Salaam Siddiq Al Juyaanee)

Open Up

“My Lord! Open up for me my heart. And ease for me my task. And untie the knot of my tongue. That they may understand my speech.” (20:25-28)

A Busy Heart

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said, “When the heart becomes busy with falsehood no place for the truth remains in it just as when it becomes busy with the truth no place for falsehood remains in it.”

Bulughul-Maraam, vol. 5, p. 30.

It is You we worship and You we ask for help

Ibn al-Qayyim said, “How many times I would hear the Shaikh of Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allaah sanctify his soul, saying, “You [Alone] do we worship …” [Faatihah 1:5] repels ostentation, and, “You [Alone] do we ask for help …” repels grandeur/pride [kibriyaa].”

Madaarijus-Saalikeen, vol. 1, p. 54.

Don’t just be patient, be patient and along with that hope for a reward from Allaah for your patience during your calamity

Shaikh Ibn Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,
“Indeed when a person faces calamities with patience [but] without hoping for a reward from Allaah, the calamity will become an expiation for his sins.  And if he shows patience along with hoping for a reward [from Allaah], then along with being an expiation for his sins it becomes a good recompense and reward.  And the meaning of hoping for Allaah’s reward [al-Ihtisaab] is that a person believes that he will soon be rewarded for the patience [he is showing], so he makes good his thoughts about Allaah and thus Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, will give him [a reward] according to what he thought of Him.”
At-Ta’leeq alaa Saheeh Muslim, p. 342.

Exchanging Greetings and Well-Wishes for the New Year

Question: Is it permissible for a person to initiate the well-wishing for the new year to someone?

Response: If someone wished you well, then return the greeting to him, but don’t you be the one to initiate the well wishing to anyone – this is the correct position in this matter.
If for example someone said to you ‘we wish you well for this new year’, you should say “may Allaah greet you with good and may He make it a year [filled with] good and blessings”, however, don’t you initiate [the well-wishing] to the people. [This is] because I do not know anything from the Salaf that they used to greet [the people] with well-wishes for the new year. Rather, know that the Salaf did not adopt Muharram as the beginning of the new year until the caliphate of ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (radhi-yAllaahu ‘anhu).

A Charity

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Every joint of a person must perform a charity each day that the sun rises: to judge justly between two people is a charity. To help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity. And the good word is a charity. And every step that you take towards the prayer is a charity, and removing a harmful object from the road is a charity.” [Bukhari, Muslim]

Believers' Rely

Say, “Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector.” And upon Allah let the believers rely.” [9:51]

O controller of my affairs, help me always be grateful. Help me in always being patient. Help me in always being in a state of ‘ibadah. To you we belong, and to you we return

First Trials

LESSONS FROM SURAH AL-KAHF: There are four fitnahs or trials mentioned in this surah. The first trial mentioned is depicted in the story of the youth who went to the cave and how Allah rewarded them and took care of them. This story showed the Trial of Faith.

“It is We who relate to you, [O Muhammad], their story in truth. Indeed, they were youths who believed in their Lord, and We increased them in guidance.” [18:13]

These youth left a society that was disbelieving and because of their strong faith fled to the cave where for almost three centuries they were protected by Allah. This first story teaches us many lessons and amongst the most important lesson is that anything sacrificed for the sake of Allah is not lost. Make Iman your first priority, everything else comes after. These youth sacrificed and left their town for the sake of their iman, for the sake of Allah and this surah shows how they were rewarded through the mercy of Allah.

Protector

“Indeed, my protector is Allah , who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous. And those you call upon besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves.” [7:196-197]

The meaning of Tawheed ul-Rububiyyah, Tawheed ul-Uloohiyyah, and Tawheed ul-Asmaa' wal-Sifat

The Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "O Mu'adh! Do you know what Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet said, "Not to punish them (if they do so)." (Sahih Bukhari)

Categories of Tawheed (Belief in the Oneness of Allah)

First question from Fatwa No. 9772:

Q: What is the meaning of Tawheed ul-Rububiyyah (Oneness of Allah’s Lordship), Tawheed ul-Uloohiyyah (Oneness of Worship), and Tawheed ul-Asmaa’ wal-Sifat (Oneness of Allah’s Names and Attributes)?

A: Tawheed ul-Rububiyyah is to believe in Allah’s Omnipotence; He Alone is the Originator of creation, maintenance, life, death, etc. As for Tawheed ul-Uloohiyyah, it is the sincerity of devotional acts e.g. Salah (Prayer), Sawm (Fast), Zakah (obligatory charity), vows and sacrificial animals. Tawheed ul-Asmaa’ wal-Sifat is to talk of Allah’s Names and Attributes in the same manner He and His Prophet (peace be upon him) did; giving Him the same Names and Attributes He calls Himself therewith free from Tashbih (comparison), Tamthil (likening Allah’s Attributes to those of His Creation), Tahrif (distortion of the meaning), or Ta`til (denial of Allah’s Attributes).

May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

continue to do...

“But repentance is not [accepted] of those who [continue to] do evil deeds up until, when death comes to one of them, he says, “Indeed, I have repented now,” or of those who die while they are disbelievers. For them We have prepared a painful punishment.” [4:18]

“And He found you lost and guided [you],”

Please make dua for Aisha Khan

Aisha Khan is a 19 year old student, who got married just three months ago. She was studying for her final exam at University of Kansas @ Edwards campus just before noon. Then a stranger approached her and started harassing her. She called her sister and left a voicemail. When her relatives arrived at the scene, they found her belongings including her cellphone on a bench, but she was missing. She went missing on Friday December 16,2011. Please support her and her family by making lots of dua and spreading the word.

Reassured

To the righteous it will be said], “O reassured soul, Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], And enter among My [righteous] servants And enter My Paradise.”

Stick to the scholars…

Shaykh Abdus-Salaam Ibn Barjas Rahimahullaah: "O student! If you want knowledge from its sources then you should stick to the great scholars [Kibâr-ul-'ulama]: those who have gray beards and weak bodies and have lost their power in [pursuit of] knowledge and educating. Stick to them before they disappear and take from their treasure before they take it with them. One misses the full-moon in the dark night."

Musa Millington:

"It is very sad news for me to relate the passing of one of the major scholars of Qur'an in the Haram, Shaikh 'Ubaidallah Al Afghani. He had classes in the Haram in Madeenah and also Masjid Abu Bakr. AlhamduLillah I was privelaged by Allah to study some Qur'an with him, from Surah Faatihah to Surah Nisaa. However, due to my leaving Madeenah I was not able to complete my memorization with him.

The Shaikh was very precise regarding the pronounciation of the Qur'an but he was not one who exaggerated the letters. He would make us spend a week or even weeks on Surah Faatihah alone so that we would be able to pronounce the Dhaad properly.

And studying under him made me know the reality of the statement: "Whoever does not taste the humiliation of learning for an hour he would carry the cup of ignorance for his whole life."

Sometimes he would call me Amreeki (American) and no matter what I told him he would still call me an American. When Afghanistan was invaded by the United States we were sitting in the Haram. And it was my turn to recite and he told the people:

"This is my American student."

So I told him Shaikh I am Trinidadian.

Then he said: "You are the ones invading Afghanistan"

So I remained quiet

Then he said:

"Read Oh Ta'ban!!"

Also, I had the experience of reading last to the Shaikh therefore being the one to wash the dishes after the Dars. Yes, every Monday and Thursday the Shaikh used to fast so some students used to end up washing the dishes. So imagine some people passing by seeing a University Student washing wares for the Shaikh.

Another time, after the Dars, I walked him to get a taxi and he asked me about Trinidad. So I told him a bit about the country. He asked me about the schools. I said the only purely Islamic school is DarulUloom but it is Tableegh. Then the Shaikh said:

"Jama'ah Tableegh Ta'baan may Allah guide them."

And everyone knows the Shaikh used to get perturbed to hear a letter pronounced wrongly. And my problem was the Raa with the Kesra. When reading to him the Shaikh would often have his head down as if he is half asleep but he was listening totally. So I would recite without mistakes but as I reached the Raa with the Kesra he would look up and smile and say:

"Oh Ta'baan please to not make a round sound with the Raa with the Kesra." He had a lot of love without doubt. Even when he would get angry at you, you knew it was out of love for the student and not to hurt him.

May Allah bless this great scholar of Islam and have mercy upon him.

Without doubt what myself and others who have studied under him will pass on is his precise recitation of the Qur'an. And Allah knows best."

The Shyness of the Prophet Musa

Abu Huraira Radi unllahu anha, said that the Prophet Muhammad Sallahualayhi wa Salam said:

"The Prophet Musa was a shy person and used to cover his body completely because of his extensive shyness. One of the children of Israel hurt him by saying, 'He covers his body in this way only because of some defect in his skin, either leprosy or scrotal hernia, or he has some other defect.' Allah wished to clear Musa of what they said about him, so one day while Musa was in seclusion, he took off his clothes and put them on a stone and started taking a bath. When he had finished the bath, he moved towards his clothes so as to take them, but the stone took his clothes and fled; Musa picked up his stick and ran after the stone saying, 'O stone! Give me my garment!' Till he reached a group of Bani Israel who saw him naked then, and found him the best of what Allah had created, and Allah cleared him of what they had accused him of. The stone stopped there and Musa took and put his garment on and started hitting the stone with his stick. By Allah, the stone still has some traces of the hitting, three, four or five marks.

This was what Allah refers to in His Saying:-- "O you who believe! Be you not like those Who annoyed Musa, But Allah proved his innocence of that which they alleged, And he was honorable In Allah's Sight." (Surah Al Ahzab, Verse 69)

Alhamdulilah tonight I had a great time with a wonderful group of sisters, May Allah reward them and increase them in good, Ameen<3 I always realize that Islam makes people come together for the better. I met alot of sisters at different gatherings and loved them solely for Allah's sake because we came together for a cause and still remembered Allah. Anyone I meet and reminds me of Allah and has good vibes is a companion that I should be greatful for alhamdulilah. Sisters in Islam are among the most kindest sweetest people, they genuinely want the best for you even though they've met you once. It's a bond created just by the fact that you love Alllah and Prophet Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasallam) and Islam! Nothing strong then that bond can be created to form a beautiful friendship for Allah's sake. If they're reading this I'd just like to say I love you all for the sake of Allah alone and only wish the best for you sisters. Great company and good vibes really makes a difference. Allahumma barik lakum ! Ameen

The Shade on the Day of Judgement

Shaykh Uthaymeen:
"What is being referred to by shade here is: It is a shade that He Allah will create on the Day of Judgement and He will shade with it who ever He wills from his slaves. And it (the shade) is not referring to Himself jal'a wa a'la, because Allah is the Light of the Heavens and the Earth. And it is not possible that Allah be the shade from the Sun. That would insinuate that the sun is above him and that he is between it and between the creation. And whoever has this understanding then he is stupid, stupider than a donkey. Because it is not possible that Allah aza wa'jal would be under anything from his creations. Allah is al'Alee (The High) and al-A'laa (The Most High), and He is the Light of the heavens and earth"

Wise words spoken...

“Hate no one, no matter how much they’ve wronged you. Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become. Think positively, no matter how hard life is. Give much, even if you’ve been given little. Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you, and forgive who has wronged you, & do not stop praying for the best of those you love.”

May Allah Increase Us In Brotherhood & Sisterhood ! Ameen

Personal 153

SubhanAllahh having Arab satellite really opens up my eyes to what is going on around that part of the world, ofcourse I love watching al-Haram, the Kaba etc but right now I'm watching these Shia people speaking about Ashoora. Their practices are just so ridiculous, the beating and so called sacrificing for Hussein ( Prophet Muhammad, sallahu alayhi wasallam's nephew) it's just all Bid'ah (Innovation)! It's really sickening to see these people act as if this is the true Islamic belief. SubhanAllah they call themselves "Sha3ab Hussein" (People of Hussein) when really everyone knows we're "Ummat Muhammad" (People of Muhammad, sallahu alayhi wasallam). May Allah guide these people to the haqq(truth), ameen. Can you believe a million people gather in Iraq for all of these rituals that take place in the time of Ashoora?! Guidance is with Allah and it just scares me how far shaytaan can take someone in his/her faith, but then again shaytaan loves an innovator more then just a sinner. A sinner understands what he/she is doing is haraam (prohibited) yet an innovator is worshiping Allah the wrong way and believes it makes them closer to Allah. . .so they'll never think it's wrong. We all honestly need to increase in Dawah for the misguided ones they are more deadly towards our religion then people who don't practice at all. May Allah guide us on the straight path, ameen !!!

Allah is sufficient for him

“…And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.” [65:2-3]

2006-03-11 Question & Answer Session by Shaykh Saalih As-Suhaymi

General Question & Answer Session
by
Shaykh Saalih as-Suhaymee حفظه الله
on March 11th, 2006
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. Question: In the US, we have a student loan in which the government pays the interest while the student is in school, and after the student finishes school, he will have to pay the principal plus interest. But if the student pays the loan back while in school, he will not have to pay the interest. Is it permissible to sign a contract for this type of loan if the student anticipates that he will pay off the entire amount before he graduates?
Answer: Regarding this issue we want to look at it from a couple angles. The first angle is that we want to distinguish between the one who has accepted Islaam and this is his condition and the one who was already a Muslim when involving himself in this transaction.

As it relates to the one who has accepted Islaam, he is not accountable for these types of transactions in the Sight of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى as the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم accepted money from the people which they had prior to accepting Islaam. So the money that a person acquired before Islaam then it stays in his possession as he had no knowledge of the Islaamic rulings before he accepted Islaam, and likewise,
Islaam erases/demolishes anything that came before it from sins.[2]

Some of the
Sahaaba accepted Islaam and they (previously) used to trade in alcohol products, gambling and these types of things and it has not been reported that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم told them to give back any of that money or to leave it off. This is except for interest i.e. if he is one that someone owes interest to then he has to give up the right to interest because at this point he has become a Muslim and he cannot accept interest from anyone. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم as is mentioned, extinguished the interest of al-Abbas i.e. he could not accept any of the interest owed to him after he accepted Islaam, but it didn’t have anything to do with the interest that was given to him before Islaam.

As for the Muslim, it is not permissible for him to involve himself in the type of transaction mentioned in the question, and that is because in Islaam
the end does not justify the means. All transactions that involve interest are not permissible in Islaam. The Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم cursed the one who takes Riba (Interest) and the one who gives Riba and the one who is a witness to Riba…[3] to the end of the hadith. Even if this individual does not have the ability to study because he cannot afford it if he does not get involved in this type of transaction, then this does not make it permissible and he still cannot utilize this type of transaction as the end does not justify the means.

'May Allaah shower His mercy on Imaam Ahmad, who recited: "The religion of Muhammad is in narrations, The best mounts for a young man are the traditions: Turn not away from Hadeeth and its people, For Opinion is night, while Hadeeth is day, A young man can be ignorant of the guidance ... Although the sun is shining in all its splendour!"' Taken from Shaykh Al-Albaani in "The Prophet's Prayer Described"

Meeting Him

HADITH OF THE DAY: “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Messenger, salla Allahu alayhi waslam, said that Allah the Exalted observed: If My slave loves meeting Me, I too love meeting him. If he dislikes to meet Me, I too hate to meet him.” [Bukhari]

Moving the Finger in Tashahhud

Bismillaah, wal-hamdulillaah, was-salaatu was-salaamu 'alaa rasoolillaah.
Assalamu 'alaykunna wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh,
Moving the Finger in Tashahhud
Taken from the book: "The Prophet's Prayer Described" by Shaikh Naasir-ud-Deen Al-Albaani

"He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would spread his left palm on his left knee, clench all the fingers of his right hand, point with the finger adjacent to the thumb towards the qiblah, and fix his sight on it (i.e. the finger)." [1]

Also, "when he pointed with his finger, he would put his thumb on his middle finger"[2], and sometimes "he would make circle with these two."[3]

"When he raised his finger, he would move it, supplicating with it" [4], and he used to say, "It is surely more powerful against the devil than iron, meaning the forefinger." [5]

Also, "the Companions of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) used to remind each other, that is, about pointing with the finger when supplicating." [6]

Once, "he saw a man supplicating with fingers, so he said, "Make it one, [make it one,]" and indicated with his forefinger." [7]

"He (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) would do this in both tashahhuds." [8]

[1] Muslim, Abu 'Awaanah & Ibn Khuzaimah. Humaidi (13/1) and Abu Ya'la (275/2) added with a saheeh sanad on the authority of Ibn 'Umar: "and this is the shooting of the devil; no-one will forget when he does this", and Humaidi raised his finger. Humaidi also said that Muslim bin Abi Maryam said, "A man related to me that in a church in Syria, he saw images of Prophets depicted like this", and Humaidi raised his finger. This is an extremely strange remark, but its sanad up to "the man" is saheeh.
[2] Muslim & Abu 'Awaanah
[3] Abu Dawood, Nasaa'i, Ibn al-Jaarood in al-Muntaqaa (208), Ibn Khuzaima (1/86/1-2) & Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh (485) with a saheeh sanad. Ibn al-Mulaqqin also declared it saheeh (28/2), and it has a supporting narration in Ibn 'Adi (287/1).
[4] ibid. About "supplicating with it", Imaam Tahaawi said, "This is evidence that it was at the end of the prayer." Hence, there is evidence in this that the Sunnah is to continue pointing and moving the finger until tasleem, for the supplication is until then. This is the view of Maalik and others. Imaam Ahmed was asked, "Should a man point with his finger during prayer?" He replied, "Yes, vigorously." (Mentioned by Ibn Haani in his Masaa'il of Imaam Ahmad, 1/80). From this, it is clear that moving the finger in tashahhud is a proven sunnah of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam), and it was practiced by Ahmad and other imaams of the Sunnah. Therefore, those who think that it is pointless and irrelevant and has nothing to do with the Prayer, should fear Allaah, since because of this, they do not move their fingers although they know it to be an established sunnah; and they take great pains to interpret it in a way which is inconsistent with the 'Arabic way of expression and contrary to the understanding of the imaams with regard to it... [For the remainder of this paragraph, refer to the book]

As for putting the finger down after pointing, or limiting the movement to the affirmation (saying laa ilaaha: 'there is no god...') and negation (saying: illallaahu: '... except Allaah'), all of that has no basis in the Sunnah; in fact, it is contrary to the Sunnah, as this hadeeth proves.

Further, the hadeeth that he would not move his does not have an authentic isnaad, as I have explained in Da'eef Abi Daawood (175). Even if it were authentic, it is negatory, whlie the hadeeth above is affirmatory: the affirmatory takes precedence over the negatory, as is well known among the scholars.

[5] Ahmad, Bazzaar, Abu Ja'far al-Bukhteeri in al-Amaali (60/1), 'Abdul Ghani al-Maqdisi in his Sunan (12/2) with a hasan sanad, Rooyaani in his Musnad (249/2) & Baihaqi.
[6] Ibn Abi Shaibah (2/123/2) with a hasan sanad
[7] Ibn Abi Shaibah (12/40/1, 2/123/2) & Nasaa'i. Haakim declared it saheeh and Dhahabi agreed, and there is a supporting narration for it in Ibn Abi Shaibah.
[8] Nasaa'i & Baihaqi with a saheeh sanad.

The permissibility of fasting on the day of 'Aashooraa. only?

Question: Is it permissible to fast 'Aashooraa. just one day?

Response: It is permissible to fast the day of 'Aashooraa. (tenth day of Muharram) just one day, however, it is better to fast the day before it or the day after it (also) and this is the established Sunnah of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) who said: ((If I am (still) here next year, then certainly I shall fast the ninth (day of Muharram))), [(reported by) Muslim, Ahmad, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Abee Shaybah, at-Tahaawee, al-Bayhaqee and al-Baghawee]. Ibn 'Abbaass (radhi-yallaahu 'anhumaa) said: ((along with the tenth (day of Muharram))).

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

11 Muharram 1433 = Wednesday December 7th 2011

Question:
What is the ruling on fasting the Day of 'Ashoora'?

Answer:
When the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi-wasallam) arrived in Al-Madinah, he found the Jews fasting on the tenth day of Muharram. He said, "I am more entitled to follow Musa (Peace be upon him) than you.'' Reported Al-Bukhari in the Book of Fasting)

In the Hadith of Ibn Abbas, may Allaah be please with him, whose authenticity is agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim it is stated that the Prophet (sallallaahu ýalaihi-wasallam) fasted on the Day of Ashura and he ordered that the fast be performed on it, and when he was asked about the virtue of fasting on it, he Prophet (sallallaahu ýalaihi-wasallam) said, ''I anticipate that Allaah will wipe out the sins of the year before it, and the year after it'' (Reported By Muslim in the Book of Fasting)

However, after that, he commanded that the Muslims should be different from the Jews by fasting the tenth and the day before it, which is the ninth or the day after it, which is the eleventh. Based upon this, it is preferable to fast on the tenth and to add a day before it or a day after it. Adding the ninth day to it is better than the eleventh.

So, my Muslim brother, it is desirable that you should fast on the Day of 'Ashura' and likewise on the ninth.

*Note of Benefit*

The expiation of sins that is achieved by fasting ‘Ashoora’ refers to minor sins; with regard to major sins, they need separate repentance.

Imam Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: Fasting the day of ‘Arafaah expiates for all minor sins, in other words this brings forgiveness for all sins except for major sins.

Then he said: Fasting the day of ‘Arafaah is an expiation for two years, and the day of ‘Ashoora is an expiation for one year, and if a person’s Ameen coincides with the Ameen of the angels, his previous sins will be forgiven… Each of the things mentioned may bring expiation. If he does something that expiates for minor sins he will be expiated, and if there are no minor or major sins, it will be recorded for him as good deeds and he will rise in status thereby… If there is one or more major sins and no minor sins, we hope that it will reduce his major sins.
Al-Majmoo’ Sharh al-Muhadhdhab, part 6.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The expiation of purification, prayer, and fasting Ramadaan, ‘Arafah and ‘Ashoora’ applies to minor sins only.Al-Fataawa al-Kubra, part 5.

Replace You

More and more I find myself in a serious power struggle between my desires and reality. SubhanAllah it's amazing how much our bodies and minds really want certain desires whether material, emotional or anything else along those lines. A serious battle of jihad al nafs, and honestly you will lose and you will win depending on the level of your iman but that should never stop you from repenting and moving forward with your priorities.Random: Have you ever had dreams that weren't in accordance with what you can do in reality? like something saved for Heaven? do we actually think about what we'd like to pursue in heaven, who we'd like to meet and what not? Maybe if we increased in these thoughts we would be more firm in our beliefs and gain strength in making them actually happen! SubhanAllah alot of thoughts going through my mind at 4:30AM but it's things I can't stop thinking about. For instances how do people that sin feel knowing that what their doing is a sin and are still okay with it? subhanAllah I ask Allah to make our hearts firm on Islam! Ameen Or people who sin, don't feel bad and don't repent...that's beyond scary yet it is reality for many. We need to make our hereafter life as important as the one we're living right now, especially that it is forever. Sorry for the random post but it's just some of the things I'm thinking about walhamdulilah, that Allah has allowed me to question myself and my surrounds..what a blessing! May Allah keep us all firm and forgive us of our sins! Ameen<3

Beware of becoming Ahlul Hawa
(People of Desire)!

Ten Things We Waste

By: Shaikh Mokhtar Maghroui
Based on a lesson of Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

1 – Our Knowledge

Wasted by not taking action with it.

2 – Our Actions

Wasted by committing them with out sincerity.

3 – Our Wealth

Wasted by using on things that will not bring us ajr. We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in akhirah.

4 – Our Hearts

Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allaah, and the feeling of longing to go to Him, and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it’s place, our hearts are filled with something or someone else.

5 – Our Bodies

Wasted because we don’t use them in ‘ibaadah and service of Allaah.

6 – Our Love

Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allaah, but towards something/someone else.

7 – Our Time

Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds.

8 – Our Intellect

Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are detremental to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection.

9 – Our Service

Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allaah, or benefit in dunyaa.

10 – Our Dhikr

Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts.

True Love

Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) says:

And the cure for this deadly illness (i.e. love before marriage) is for the person that is afflicted to realize that this love is only due to his/her own delusions and ignorance. So upon such a person is to first and foremost strengthen their Tawheed and reliance upon Allaah, and secondly to increase in worship and busy themselves with it, so much so that they do not have any spare time letting their minds wander and think about their beloved.

And they should call upon Allaah to protect them and save them from this evil, just as Prophet Yoosuf (`alayhi ssalaam) called upon Allaah and he was saved. And they should do as he did, be as he was, in terms of ikhlaas (sincerity) and remembering Allaah in abundance. This is because if the heart is filled with ikhlaas for the sake of Allaah, there will be no space left for any unlawful love to be present, rather this only happens to a heart that is empty and has no ikhlaas whatsoever.

And let such people remind themselves that whatever Allaah has decreed for them is only for their own best interests, and when Allaah commands something it is never to cause harm or misery to His slaves.

And let them also remind themselves that their unlawful love does not benefit them, neither in this world or the Hereafter! As for this world then they will be so preoccupied with their love that it will cripple them and will cause them to live in a fantasy world. And as for the hereafter, then it will cause them to be preoccupied with the love of the creation instead of love for the Creator. These people need to be reminded that the one who is emerged in something will never see its ill effects, neither will the person who has never experienced such things. The only people who will be able to relate to them are those who have experienced the same thing, but have been saved.

Such people can look back and realize how evil it is.

~ad-Daa`wa ad-Dawaa, p300
Ibn al-Qayyim:
The only thing that can come close to the ink of scholars is the blood of martyrs!
Imaam Sufyaan ath-Thawree said, "The scholars are like rain, wherever they fall, they benefit." (Jam'ee Bayaanul 'Ilm wa Fadlihee 1/56)

Importance of knowledge

'Abdullaah Ibn 'Amr رضي الله عنه narrated that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

"Verily, Allaah does not seize knowledge by force, instead He takes knowledge by the death of the scholars, until there remains no scholar. The people will take ignorant leaders, who will be asked, and will be asked, and who will rule without knowledge. They are misguided and they will misguide others."

....do you know any equal to Him?"

We believe in His oneness in all of this, that is, He has no associate in His divinity, His God ship, His names, or His attributes. Allah says in the Qur'an: "He is the Lord of the heavens and the Earth and all that is in between them, so worship Him and be patient in His worship; do you know any equal to Him?" (19:65).

'My Rubb, I remember.'

HADITH OF THE DAY: “Ibn `Umar (radiyAllahu anhu) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam saying, “A believer will be brought close to his Rubb on the Day of Resurrection and enveloping him in His Mercy, He subhanahu wa taala will make him confess his sins by saying: `Do you remember (doing) this sin and this sin?’ He will reply: `My Rubb, I remember.’ Then He subhanahu wa taala will say: `I covered it up for you in the life of world, and I forgive it for you today.’ Then the record of his good deeds will be handed to him” [Bukhari, Muslim]

Ruling regarding the one who becomes angry when an affliction befalls him‏

Posted: May 19th, 2003

Author: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (Raheemahullaah)
Source: Fataawa Arkaan al-Islaam - Fataawaa 64, page 126

Question: What is the ruling regarding the one who becomes angry when an affliction befalls him?

Answer: People are upon 4 levels regarding the circumstances of affliction:

The First Level

Being angry, and this is in various ways:

The first type: That the anger is by the heart as if he is angry at his Lord. So he becomes angry with what Allaah has decreed for him, and this (level) is haraam. And it is possible that this could lead to kufr (disbelief). Allaah said:

“And among mankind is he who worships Allaah as it were, upon the very edge (i.e. in doubt); if good befalls him, he is content therewith; but if a trial befalls him, he turns back on his face (i.e. reverts back to disbelief after embracing Islaam). He loses both this world and the Hereafter.” – Al-Hajj (22):11

The second type: That the anger is by the tongue like making du'aa for destruction or ruin and what is similar to that, and this is haraam.

The third type: That the anger is by the limbs like slapping the cheeks, ripping the clothes, pulling out hair and similar to that, and all of this is haraam in contradiction to patience which is waajib (obligatory).

The Second Level:

Being patient, just as the poet said:

“Patience is like its name – bitter in taste, yet its outcomes are sweeter than honey.”

So the person sees this thing (the affliction) weighs very heavy upon him, yet he bears it although he dislikes that it happened. Rather, his eemaan bears it and restrains him from being angry. So the time of affliction and the time of no affliction is not the same to him, and this (level) is waajib, because Allaah commanded the people to be patient, saying:

“…and be patient. Surely, Allaah is with those who are As-Saabireen (the patient ones, etc.).” – Al-Anfaal (8):46

The Third Level:

Being pleased with the affliction in that the person is pleased with the affliction and whether it happened or not, it is the same to him so he it is not difficult upon him. He does not bear it as if it is something weighing heavy on him, and this (level) is mustahabb (preferred – between haraam and waajib) and it is not waajib according to the most correct opinion. The difference between this level and the one before it is apparent because the affliction happening or not happening is the same due to the pleasure of the one on this level. As for the level before it, the affliction is hard upon him, yet he remains patient over it.

The Fourth Level:

Thanking/being grateful and this is the highest level. This is that the person thanks Allaah for the affliction which has struck him in that he knows that this affliction is an expiation for his sins and perhaps a cause for an increase in his good deeds. The Prophet (Salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said,

“There is no affliction which strikes the Muslim except that Allaah expiates with it (sins), even with a thorn that may poke him.” (Recorded by Bukhaari and Muslim)
“Patience is like its name – bitter in taste, yet its outcomes are sweeter than honey.”

Truthful Dreams

The truthfulness of the dream is related to the sincerity of the dreamer. Those who have the most truthful dreams are those who are the most truthful in speech. (Muslim, 4200)

Advices to Female Students of knowledge

Umm Yasir Al Faranseeyah asked Shaikh Muqbil : Is it possible for you Oh Shaikh to give us a program and levels that a sister can use in her house until she could come to a high level of knowledge?

Answer: Yes, what we advice is that she takes knowledge step by step by reading simple books: for verily they help in understanding the big books, and examples of this are Riyaad Us Saaliheen and also Fath Ul Majeed the explanation of Kitaab Ut Tawheed, and Buluugh Ul Maraam by Haafidh Ibn Hajar , and this is if she can understand this. And if she doesn’t understand these then there is a small book that I know from our virtuous brother Shaikh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab Al Yamani Al Wassabi and its name is the beneficial statements from the evidences of Tawheed. And it is a very easy book. And if she is at a higher level than these books that we have mentioned then it is possible that she reads from the Sunnah of Ibn Abee ‘Aasim and the Sunnah of Muhammad Ibn Nasr Al Marwazi and As Sunnah by Abdillah Ibn Ahmad. The most important thing is that she manages her time and doesn’t overwork herself with many classes… .

Also we advise that she keeps in contact with the virtuous scholars if there are any problems, and also to write the benefits (of what she learns). And Allah is the helper. And if it is easy for a woman and her husband to travel to the institutes of knowledge in Yemen we advise them to do so Allah is the helper.

Many thoughts going through my mind but alhamdulilah I'm just trying to stay patient and avoid listening to the shaytaan because when your at the most vulnerable moment, he'll try to get you. Authobillahi minal shaytaan al rageem ! None the less gaining wisdom from different events that take place in life is also a hidden blessing almost often taken for granted, I'm trying to learn for experiences to better myself. I truly ask Allah to increase me in patience, continue to guide me on the straight path and forgive my sins! Ameen. C'est la vie...It's life, we'll all have to go through tests and trials but the outcome of how we react to the matter is what truly tests our faith. May Allah increase us in wisdom and patience! Ameen. I've always been an independent person walhamdulilah and I feel that I need to return to when I rarely seen anyone and really just focused on my goals and plans that I have in the future. Sure, friends will always be there and I thank Allah for them but sometimes they come as tests to us, we must always renew our intentions ever so often and remember that this life is meaning less, we will all return back to Allah. Just at that point in my life where I'm growing and discovering what type of person I want to be and where I'd like to go in life in'sha'Allah. May Allah grant us all success in everything we try to gain from this dunya and make our final abode heaven, a place of eternal bliss<3

May Allah have mercy upon Mu'aadh and write for him as a Shaheed, Aameen.

The Purpose of Our Lives

Have we forgotten the purpose of our lives?

Sometimes we think we exist just to have a good time.

So we indulge in satisfying our lusts and desires,

Even if means becoming hypocrites, thieves and liars

We forget the sole reason Allah created our souls.

It is to worship Him alone, until they bury our bones

Never faltering, never shifting, away from our Iman,

Remaining true to Allah as best as we can.

But beyond this belief in our hearts come our actions

Balancing obedience to Allah and appeasing satisfactions

What is a Muslim who forgets the commands of His religion?

One who is blinded by Dunya, and lost all vision?

Have we forgotten that we have one of two destinations?

Hell is for the transgressors, and Jannah is for the patient.

In this test we can enjoy ourselves, and be pleased with our lives,

But the reason we live is to worship Allah, and this will not change until we die.

In the sorrow and regret of the most horrific of days,

We’d wish to return to Dunya, only to change our ways.

A Day on which we’d beg Allah on our hands and our knees,

Return us to this Dunya! So we can salvage our Deeds!

But Nay!

You’ve had your chances and received your warnings!

But remember when you slept during the early mornings?!

When you neglected Fajr, and didn’t keep up with your Salah?

You were cheap and you were greedy, and didn’t pay your Zakah!

You indulged in the obsession of this Dunya with the sinners,

And prevented your own self the company of the winners.

Who might they be, if you ask as you listen?

The winners are those who answered their Lord in submission.

They obeyed Allah and realized life’s mission:

To submit to the One who created you from clay,

and to fear the most horrifying, detrimental of days

These winners are the ones who enjoined in the worship of their Lord:

They kept their covenant with Allah, not breaking one word.

Prayer by prayer, Day by Day,

Holding firmly to the Qur’an, while following the Prophet’s way.

The best of the Muslims receive Jannah’s delight.

Because they fasted through the day and prayed Tahajjud through the night.

They fulfilled the necessary obligations and did more,

They kept their loyalty to the One who they lived and died for.

Let us all reflect, as to how we may be viewed by the Sublime.

Are we of the hypocrites who don’t even pray on time?

Of the losers who worship every nickel and dime?

Of the animals who don’t treat fellow Muslims with respect?

Of the enemies of Allah whose commands we neglect?

Are we the sinners whose own lives we’ll regret?

Or have we devoted ourselves to pursuing Paradise?

Of the Muslims whose actions are intelligent and wise?

Of the noble who tell only truth with no lies?

Of the pious who pray every prayer on time?

Let us Never forget our aim for Paradise,

We must worship Allah, through all of the sacrifice.

For those who fall short, Jahannam is their destination.

Allah’s Judgement is most Supreme, and His is the best of legislation.

So Ya Allah! We beg of you to guide us the straight path!

And we seek refuge with Your mercy from the torment of Your wrath!

Ya RABB! Grant us patience and let us die in submission!

Let us realize and succeed in the struggles of life’s mission!

We are for You and to You we return,

So grant us refuge from Hellfire’s burn!

Grant us the peak of Jannah with the Prophets, martyrs and righteous,

For none exceeds You in Your generocity, O Lord of Kindness!

And send Your peace and blessings upon he who You’ve sent to guide us,

To make us of the pious, and bring us out of the blindness

All praise is due to You, Lord of the Heavens, the Earth, and all that’s between.

Master of the Universe, All-Knower of the Unseen.

Oh November, how I adore you! It has been one of the busiest months yet for me with all my school papers piling up and handling working at the same time but honestly I have nothing to complain about alhamdulilah. Do you ever have that realization moment when you realize your problems aren't REAL problems yet in fact actual blessings! SubhanAllah. How selfish are we really? or better question how grateful are we to the one who has given us all that we have? Sighh sometimes I just sit and think about the greater problems people face in their lives and compare to mine, I have such small tiny problems. Often times I try not to blow them up but even I am human! Thank Allah that we are able to repent before we can die, Allah truly is a forgiving lord -Al-Rahman Al-Raheem! In every situation there are different angles to look at it from, we should always take the grateful outlook on things. I believe we'd live more happier lives that are enriched with being content with anything and everything that ever happens to us in this life; acceptance. There is no time for rest in this life while our bed is made clear for the hereafter! Those who believed (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allâh, Verily, in the remembrance of Allâh do hearts find rest! Ar-Rad [13:28]  May Allah increase us in remembrance of him & increase us with patience! Ameen<3 I find that throughout my day whether at school or at work there are endless, countless of things that I see as blessings and to end my day complaining is just not an option. Yes we get tired and fed up at times but lets not lose sight of our goals and what we should prepare for in the hereafter. If we have problems with staying grateful or searching for the blessings Allah has bestowed on us then let us turn back to the verses of Allah. Similarly (to complete My blessings on you) We have sent among you a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) of your own, reciting to you Our Verses (the Qur'ân) and purifying you, and teaching you the Book (the Qur'ân) and the Hikmah (i.e. Sunnah, Islâmic laws and Fiqh - jurisprudence), and teaching you that which you used not to know.Al-Baqara [2:151]   Lesson in every verse, Alhamdulilah for Islam

Ameeen<3

Three Points about Joking

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful…

Let us be reminded that while light-hearted, honest joking from time to time is permissible, there are indeed dangers in joking that many of us may not think about and therefore fall into, so let us be warned about them:

1) JOKES INVOLVING LIES
Indeed the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) warned us severely against using lies in our joking, with his statement:
ويل للذي يحدث بالحديث ليضحك به القوم فيكذب، ويل له، ويل له
“Woe to the one who lies to make people laugh, WOE TO HIM, WOE TO HIM!”
This is an authenitc hadeeth found in Sunan Abee Daawood (#4990), At-Tirmithee (#2315), and others.  At-Tirmithee called the hadeeth hasan, and Al-Albaanee agreed.

Someone may say, “Well, its obvious this joke is full of lies, but I’m not the one who made it up, I’m just passing it on.”

The reply: The hadeeth of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) that Imaam Muslim brings in the introduction to his Saheeh could apply here:

كفى بالمرء كذبًا أن يحدث بكل ما سمع
“It is sufficient for a man to be considered a liar when he relays everything he hears.”
Lies in general are impermissible, in joking or outside of joking.  There are three exceptions to the general prohibition of lying in Islaam:
  • Between spouses
  • To correct a broken relationship
  • In estbalished military operations (jihad) under a Muslim government
Even in these three cases it must only be used to bring about a benefit.
The point is that none of the scholars exempted joking as a permissible form of lying.

2) EXCESSIVE JOKING

The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said:

لا تكثروا الضحك، فإن كثرة الضحك تميت القلب
“Don’t laugh too much! For verily, excessive laughter kills the heart!”
This is an authentic hadeeth found in Sunan Ibn Maajah (#4193).  Refer to Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Saheehah (#506).

And he (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) also said:

والله لو تعلمون ما أعلم لضحكتم قليلا ولبكيتم كثيرا
“I swear by the One in whose hand is my soul, if you saw what I have seen, you would laugh a little, and cry a lot.” [Al-Bukhaaree & Muslim]

So the Muslim who recognizes his priorities in life does not get caught up in excessive joking, for example, joke books or comedy programs on TV or radio, since these things will only weaken his heart, keep it away from Allaah’s remembrance, or even kill it, and Allaah’s refuge is sought.

3) INSULTING PEOPLE IN JEST (Satire, Sarcasm, Roasting, etc.)

The disbelievers have a custom of intentionally insulting a person to honor him (?!), they call it a “roast.” They gather the best comedians together to humiliate their “honoree” on his 50th birthday, or his retirement party, or other big occasion. And from their customs as well is to jokingly insult a friend, out of love or respect (?!), as you may have seen.

They might say, “This is my friend, Fulaan, the fat pig,” and they all laugh, or, “My wife, the old ball and chain…” or other derogatory terms that are actually words of insult in their origin. They only spark hatred and do not achieve any goodness, so the Muslim must be the furthest away from this kind of action. The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said:

سباب المسلم فسوق، وقتاله كفر
“Insulting a Muslim is fusooq (sinful disobedience), and fighting him is kufr (ingratitude, a lesser kind of disbelief).” [Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

Or perhaps they may say these things without that person’s presence, then it is even worse. It falls into eating your brother’s dead flesh, the dreadful sin of backbiting.

And if someone said: “But it is understood by everyone to be good, honest fun…!”
The reply: Let us be reminded of Allaah’s Verse:

الخبيثات للخبيثين والخبيثون للخبيثات والطيبات للطيبين والطيبون للطيبات
( And bad things (filthy women, bad words, etc.) are for bad people, and bad people are for bad things.  Good things (upright women, kind words, etc.) are for good people, and good people are for good things. ) [Al-Qur'aan 24:26]

And the speech of His noble Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam):
من كان يؤمن بالله واليوم الآخر فليقل خيرا أو ليصمت

“Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day must speak with goodness or remain silent.”
[Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim]

With these brief and simple points, let an honest Muslim open his heart to a beautiful reminder about how his Religion gives him personal honor and upright character, raising him above the silly and shameful behavior of the disbelievers.

And Allaah knows best.
