Eleven Women

'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, reported Allaah's Messenger, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:

(One day) there sat together eleven women making an explicit promise among themselves that they would conceal nothing about their spouses.

The first one said: My husband is a sort of the meat of a lean camel placed on the top of a mountain, which is difficult to climb up, and (the meat) is not good enough that one finds in oneself the urge to fetch it (from the top of that mountain).

The second one said: My husband (is so bad) that I am afraid I will not be able to describe his defects both visible and invisible completely.

The third one said: My husband is a tall fellow. If (he learns that) I describe him, he will divorce me, and if I keep quiet I will be made to live in a state of suspense (neither completely abandoned by him nor entertained as wife).

The fourth one said: My husband is like the night of Tihamah (the night of Hijaz), neither cold nor hot, there is neither any fear of him nor discontent with him.

The fifth one said: My husband is (like) a leopard as he enters the house, and behaves like a lion when he gets out, and he does not ask about whatever happens in the house.

The sixth one said: So far as my husband is concerned, he eats so much that nothing is left back and when he drinks he drinks so that no drop is left behind. And when he lies down he wraps his body and does not touch me so that he may know my grief.

The seventh one said: My husband is heavy in spirit, weak, suffering from all kinds of conceivable diseases, heaving such rough manners that he may break my head or wound my body, or may do both.

The eighth one said: My husband is as sweet as the sweet-smelling plant, and as soft as the softness of the hare.

The ninth one said: My husband is a generous noble man, tall - wearing long sword strap having heaps of ashes (at his door an indication of generosity) and his house is near the meeting place where people seek his advice (the inn).

The tenth one said: My husband is Malik, and how fine Malik is, much above appreciation and praise (of mine). He has many folds of his camel, more in number than the pastures for them. When they (the camels) hear the sound of music they become sure that they are going to be slaughtered.

The eleventh one said: My husband is Abu Zar'. How fine Abu Zar' is! He has suspended in my ears heavy ornaments and (fed me liberally) that my sinews and bones are covered with fat. So he made me happy. He found me among the shepherds living in the side of the mountain, and he made me the owner of the horses, camels and lands and heaps of grain and he finds no fault with me. I sleep and get up in the morning (at my own sweet will) and drink to my heart's content. The mother of Abu Zar', how fine is the mother of Abu Zar'! Her bundles are heavily packed (or receptacles in her house are filled to the brim) and the house quite spacious. So far as the son of Abu Zar' is concerned, son of Abu Zar's bed is as soft as a green palm-stick drawn forth from its bark, or like a sword drawn forth from its scabbard, and whom just an arm of a lamb is enough to satiate. So far as the daughter of Abu Zar' is concerned, how fine is the daughter of Abu Zar', obedient to her father, obedient to her mother, wearing sufficient flesh and is a source of jealousy for her co-wife. As for the female-slave of Abu Zar', how fine she is; she does not disclose our affairs to others (outside the four walls of the house). She does not remove our wheat, or provision, or take it forth, or squander it, but she preserves it faithfully (as a sacred trust). And she does not let the house fill with rubbish. One day Abu Zar' went out (of his house) when the milk was churned in the vessels, and he met a woman, having two children like leopards playing with her pomegranates (chest) under her vest. He divorced me (Umm Zar') and married that woman whom he met on the way. I (Umm Zar') later on married another person, a chief, who was an expert rider, and a fine archer: he bestowed upon me many gifts and gave me one pair of every kind of animal and said: Umm Zar', make use of everything (you need) and send forth to your family (but the fact) is that even if I combine all the gifts that he bestowed upon me, they stand no comparison to the least gift of Abu Zar'.

'A'ishah reported that Allah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said to me: I am for you as Abu Zar' was for Umm Zar'. In some traditions the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) says “O ‘A’isha! I am to you like Abu Zara’ was to Umm Zara’ – except that Abu Zara’ divorced (her), and I will not divorce you.” to which ‘A’isha replies “O Allah’s Messenger! You are better to me than Abu Zara’ was to Umm Zara’” to show her appreciation of his favours on her.

Story of a man who succumbed to Temptation

It is related that a group of people were once seated in the company of Al-Hasan Al-Basri, when some men passed by, dragging along with them a body of a dead man. When Al-Hasan saw the dead man, a glint of instant recognition could be discerned in his eyes, and he fell unconscious from the shock of some memory that had just been rekindled.

When he regained consciousness, his companions asked him what was wrong with him.

He said: This man – referring to the dead man being dragged along on the ground – used to be one of the best worshipers and one of the most renowned ascetics (in the world) (renouncing all the temporary pleasures of this world because he was so busy and devoted to worship).

One day he left his home, intending to go to the Masjid to pray, but on the way, he saw a beautiful young Christian women, who became an immediate temptation to him.

When he proposed to her, she refused, saying; “I will not marry you until you become an adherent of my religion.”

He went on his way, but as time went on, he yearned for her continued to increase. He then succumbed to her wish and exited from the fold of (Islaam) the religion of pure, unadulterated Monotheism.

After he became a Christian and some time passed, the woman came out to him from behind the curtain and said, “You are a man who is bereft of goodness. You have forsaken your religion, which was important to you for your entire life, simply for the sake of a lust that is of no value. Indeed, I too am forsaking my religion, but not for the same reason. I am doing so in order to achieve a blissful existence that never comes to an end, an eternal existence under the care of the One, the As-Samad (i.e., Allaah; The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creature need, He neither eats nor drinks).” She then recited the entire Chapter of Al-Ikhlaas:

Say (O Muhammad (saw): “He is Allaah, (the) One. Allaah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). He begets not, nor was He begotten; And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him.” [Qur'aan:112:1-4]

When the people had heard about what she had said, they approached her and asked, “All along, you had this Chapter memorized?“

“No,” she answered. “By Allaah, I had never known it before. But after this man continued to insist upon having me, I saw a dream; I saw Hellfire, and my place in it was shown to me. I became terrified and panic-stricken. Maalik – the custodian of the Hellfire – said to me: ‘Do not be afraid or sad, for Allaah has ransomed (i.e., saved) you with this man (i.e., he will take the place in Hellfire that you would have taken had not Allaah saved you).’ He then took me by the hand and admitted me into Paradise. Seeing a line written inside of it, I read it; among what was written were these Words:

“Allaah blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the Mother of the Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfooz).” {Qur’aan 13:39]}

He then recited the Al-Ikhlas Chapter to me, and I began to repeat it. Then I woke up and had it (the Al-Ikhlas Chapter) memorized.”

Al-Hasan then said, “The woman then embraced Islaam, and the man whose corpse you just saw being dragged away was killed for having apostatized. And I ask Allaah to make us firm and steadfast upon guidance and to grant us safety and success.”¹

Al-Insan [76:13]
Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no Moon).

The Difference between Thikr and Dua

The Difference between Thikr and Dua
By Shaykul Islam ibn Taymeeyah (728H) (May Allah have mercy on him)

The meaning for Thikr and Dua are both included in each other.  What is noticeable is the person who supplicates to Allah remembers Him. Likewise the one remembering Allah supplicates to Him

The Meaning for this is found in the hadeeth when the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salim) said:
” أَفْضَلُ الدُّعَاءِ دُعَاءُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ، وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ،  عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

The best supplication is the dua for the Day of Arafah,: There is absolutely no deity worthy of worship but Allah, He is alone without any partners. To him belongs the dominion of the heavens and earth, and to Him belongs all praises. Allah has the ability to do everything.

[ Al-Bayhaqi Kubara 5/117.Al-Bayhqai graded this hadeeth as being weak]

What’s more is the Dua for Grief:

لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك إني كنت من الظالمين لا يدعو بها رجل مسلم في شيء قط إلا استجاب الله له
There is absolutely no deity worthy of worship, except you, and verily I have been among those people who oppress. Any Muslim asking Allah through this supplication will be answered.[ Hakim 1/505 Al-Hakim graded this hadeeth as being authentic]

The book Ad-Dua by At-Tabarani contains various remembrances of Allah. The scholars of Fiqh consider the various remembrances done prayer as supplication.

There are three instances and situations for remembering Allah:
1: The intention to have a request granted only.
2: The intention to remember Allah only
3: To have a request honored and remember Allah together.

At any rate whenever the person intends one of these actions, the other action will be achieved. This is similar to a person pleading a request. It’s a must that he attaches great importance to the heart, know Allah and fear Him. On one hand, the individual who intends to remember Allah, worship Him and make everything other than Allah a means to reach his goal. On the other hand the person who only wants to have his needed fulfilled, he places Allah as a means to reach this objective. This is the servant of Allah. He knows and is aware that it is Allah Who causes harm and benefit. There is no Lord other than Allah.

Does Beautification Negate Az-Zuhd (Abstemiousness) ? Shaykh Saalih Al-F...

Purification& Education

The Ruling on Women Covering their Feet in Prayer by: Shaykh Muhammad Al...

Concerning the phrase 'How is your Imaan?' by Shaykh Zaid Al Madkhali

Should I beat my daughter?

Questioner:

Oh Shaykh may Allah rectify us and our offspring. If I want to beat my daughter due to a problem that occurred between her and her sister or due to her wrecking the house, or not listening to what her mother tells her or not listening to me; when I beat her she becomes frighten and says: “Dear father may Allah preserve you, I ask my Lord to enter you into paradise.”

So I am concerned about this dua especially since I continue to beat her and I say to myself, “Say, oh Allah, Enter me into paradise though I beat her”.

Shaykh Baraak: Why do you beat her? Why? Do not beat her! Why do you beat her?!

Questioner: Due to her disobeying her mother and her father.

Shaykh Baraak: No, No, do not beat her. Discipline her with words. Beating is not the appropriate means. Hitting is for violating the rights of Allah, for violating the rights of Allah. If she does not pray after reaching the age of ten then she is lightly hit as a means of discipline.

(Your beating her) is incorrect.

Some of the people go to the extreme. Some of the people punish their children with fire! This is ignorance.

Discipline is not torture! It is not torture! Show mercy and you will be shown mercy.

Do not beat your daughter. Discipline her (with words). (Such as saying) ‘Shame on you, Shame on you’, ‘This is not correct.’ ’What is this you are doing?’

Lower Level

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:

“Look at those who stand at a lower level than you but don’t look at those who stand at a higher level than you, for this would make the favours (conferred upon you by Allah) insignificant (in your eyes).” [Muslim]

Sometimes stepping away from it all and just reflecting is needed in life, it goes way to fast subhanAllah. I pretty shocked that already midterms have come, I'm half way there to completing this year and alhamdulilah it feels great. Allah subhanah wa ta'ala has blessed me in so many different ways and I believe gaining an education is one of them. Many people take it for granted or just haven't been as privileged as myself to receive one. Gaining Islamic knowledge is amazing and the most important type of knowledge for this life and the next but along with that gaining education in school actually strenghtens my beliefs when it comes to learning different aspects of psychology, or history etc etc..even a sister mentioned how in one of her biology classes they were talking about bees and how they made food and lived their lives, she took this and compared it to what she read in Surah Nahl of the Quran and its just amazing how the Quran is filled with wisdom, this comparison was beautiful. Conventional knowledge for this life can also help you practice your deen as well and help you strengthen it, it's all about how you go about it really...

Favor

And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ ” [14:7]

The Government of Tawheed and Sunnah-The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful The Bestower of Mercy

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Umar Bin Saalim Baazmool (may Allaah preserve him) quoted Shaikh Saaleh Al-Luhaydaan (may Allaah preserve him) who said:

This country is the heart of Islaam and its sanctuary. It has been blessed with many affairs of peace and security whose match is not found in the world. There is no doubt that it is unrestrictedly the best of governments in this world.

And this neither means that it is (perfect) nor that anyone says that it is perfect, rather it has mistakes and we have mistakes; however it is the best of governments upon the face of the earth. And for that reason, it is incumbent upon every Muslim within and outside of it to supplicate for it to be upon firmness, strong upon truth and giving assistance to the oppressed.

And the reason (for its success) is that it has remained upon the Pure Creed of of Tawheed, and because it establishes the prescribed Islamic legislated laws when the conditions for its establishment are fulfilled.

The Keys to Paradise

By Shaykh ul –Islaam Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah as-Salafi -Rahimullaah-

Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-Jawzeeyah (d.751) -Rahimullaah- said:

Bukhari mentions in his ‘Saheeh’ from Wahab bin Munnabih that it was said to him: ‘Is not ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaah’ the key to Paradise?’

He said: ‘Of course, however there is no key except that it has teeth, so if a key is brought which has teeth then it will be opened, otherwise it will not open.’

Ibn Qayyim continues:
Allaah Subhanahu has placed keys for everything that is necessary, and they open the way, so Allaah made purification the key for prayer, as the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- said:
‘The key to prayer is purification.’ [Saheeh al-Jamia as-Sagheer No.5885] .
Like wise
  • Ihram is the key to Hajj,
  • Truthfulness is the key to righteousness,
  • Tawheed is the key to Paradise,
  • Asking good questions and being attentive is the key to knowledge,
  • Patience is the key to victory and triumph,
  • Gratitude is the key to increase of provision,
  • Remembrance of Allaah is the key to having loyalty to Allaah and His love,
  • Taqwa (piety) is the key to success,
  • Fervent desire and dread of Allaah is the key to being successful,
  • Dua’ (Supplicating) is the key to being responded to,
  • Zuhd (Abstaining from the luxuries of the world) is the key to desiring the Hereafter,
  • Reflecting about that which Allaah calls His slaves to is the key to Eemaan (having faith),
  • Making the heart accept Islaam and making it secure for Allaah and having sincerity for Him by having love and hate and fulfilling His commands and leaving the prohibitions is the key to going in front of Allaah,
  • Pondering upon the Qur’aan, and imploring Allaah before dawn and not sinning is the key to giving the heart life,
  • Being kind to the worshippers of the Creator and striving to benefit His worshippers is the key to obtaining mercy,
  • Striving to seek forgiveness from Allaah and Taqwa (piety) is the key to Rizq (provisions),
  • Obedience to Allaah and His Messenger is the key to honour,
  • Longing for the Hereafter is the key to being prepared for the Hereafter,
  • Fervent desire for Allaah and the Hereafter is the key to all goodness,
  • Love for the world, continuously longing for it and turning away from the Hereafter is the key to all evil.
This is a great matter from the most beneficial chapters of knowledge, namely knowing the keys to goodness and evil.’

Asalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabaraktu! Its been a while since I've last blogged and subhanAllah I really miss it a lot, just haven't found the time to stay as committed as I would like too. At the same time when I take these breaks it gives me a chance to renew my intentions about why I even have this blog to begin with and ask myself what benefit I've applied from it into my life. It's not about posting and posting as much as I'd like, it's more reflecting and learning new things as I share them with everyone reading out there walhamdulilah. So these breaks are much needed and can be a reflection for yourself as well, think about what these verses and hadiths mean to you and how you can apply basic knowledge to enhance your life in Islam, embrace it really. Islam is very beautiful and when we take it and make it a serious part of our lives we discover what that beauty really means and how it feels. I will in'sha'Allah start posting more and I hope we all apply that which we learn bi'thinillah just have to set some distractions on the side in order to focus on important things! I hope your all having a wonderful day ! <3
