A lot of people usually get really caught up on being prideful of where they come from (background wise) or like ancestor wise. SubhanAllah, I kind of find it silly to be honest because it doesn't make the person any more righteous, of  better character or of any more good deeds then another..so whats the point of gloating over where you came from?! It doesn't make sense to me why people love there backgrounds SOOO much to the point that they feel their the best because of it?-- your background doesn't define you infront of Allah BUT your piety & good deeds do..we just have to ask ourselves these questions before getting big-headed about ourselves because it really is distasteful to be among a person like that or a group of people of that nature. Like subhanAllah snap out of it, we are all one ummah that came from Adam&Hawa --we are all brothers & sisters; no one is better then another.

The prophet Muhammad himself stated in his farewell address saying:

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action.
